Leadership Under Fire
Leadership Under Fire

Being a boss is always challenging but it seems more so than ever these days. Given the tough economy, unhappy workforces and your pay packet and bonus under scrutiny. So what does it take? Well last year we did some research on ‘Leadership for the future’ and discovered that Courage and Resilience were ranked pretty highly amongst the leadership traits that would be required for successful bosses : and those attributes seem more important than ever. Many of the tough decisions that have to be made may be unpopular with the press and workforce (eg selling off brands, factories or downsizing) and so need personal courage to see them through. Added to this, having the stamina and resilience to face the business challenges and remain positive and be able to inspire others to deliver outstanding performance.........it all sounds like a tall order.
When’s all is said and done though, it’s about digging deep and doing the right thing. Maintaining belief and persevering. In an Olympic year, these are the traits that will differentiate champions both in the business and sports arena.
